The Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo known at its inception as Federal Advanced Teachers College for special education was established on 5 th October, 1977. The founding principal. Mr. C.C. Azodor, was replaced soon after the opening by an Acting Principal Mr. G.O. Talabi, who administered the college from 1978-1980. Later in 1980, Dr. O.I. Onwuegbu became the first Provost until 31 st May, 1987. The institution, according to a UNDP/UNESCO 1996 report (NIR/87/008)” ….
